Case Studies of Search Engine Optimisation via advertising on the Newcomers Network website and website design services
Case Study 1 - Corporate Media Services
I first met Doug Weller on 12/2/08 at a networking function of the Melbourne Press Club - we are both members. We corresponded after the event, attended another event together and kept in semi regular contact via email until Doug decided to invite me to redesign his entire website.
He had been online for several years and was not appearing in Google Organic search results for his keywords of 'media training Melbourne.' We had several meetings to discuss the future direction of his business and what services he wanted to provide to his clients (as like many small business owners, he had many different talents).
I then completed extensive research on the other types of businesses similar to his and where they were ranking for particular keywords. I began sorting and re-writing all of his website content, giving him a rough draft that he could then edit so that we could present information accurately and target his true potential customers.
Once his content was confirmed, we created a static website that included a comprehensive Site Map that was registered with search engines. There were many other specific design features incorporated into his website that encouraged visitors to contact him and purchase his professional services - from all over Australia and I used a variety of Search Engine Optimisation Techniques.
We also created the Corporate Media Services Advertiser Profile Page on the Newcomers Network website. This was published on the 2 March 2009 and in the first year, received over 2,200 views.
Initially, this profile page performed particularly well in Google Search results, appearing in the top 10 on the first page for 'media training Melbourne.' Soon after, his own Corporate Media Services website came up in the top four search results and the Advertiser Profile Page usually appeared at number six.
As I had established the newer version Corporate Media Services website, I installed Google Analytics and the statistics showed that visitors who came via the Newcomers Network Advertiser Profile Page remained on the Corporate Media Services website longer than those coming via other websites (including the Yellow Pages).
I am sure that Doug could elaborate on more statistics about his website - but once I was finished with my work, I trained his Operations Manager to update the website using Dreamweaver so that he take full control over the website and edit the layout, content and features at any time.
The entire project over several months (including a lot of business advice, writing, graphic design consultations, training and consulting services) came to less than $3,000. These search engine results have remained consistent and have improved since the new website was created.
Case Study 2 - Briggs Communications
Doug Weller referred me on to Allan Briggs who I met on 30 December 2009. He was currently employed and planning to start his own business in 2010. We had an initial discussion to define the nature of his new business, the type of clients he wanted to secure and the way he would set up his business operations.
Unlike the above Case Study, this website was being created from scratch with no previous online history. Although we talked at length about the scope of what could be included on the website in the future, in the rush from his last day of work 26/2/10 until 13/3/10 there was very little content to actually publish. So I scoured the internet to find material that had been published on other websites from his previous work roles and also linked to a variety of articles, events and resources related to his new business.
All of the advice, information and training provided for his new small basic website (including a training handover for both Allan and his Office Assistant) came to less than $1,000. He paid the website hosting fees and domain registration fees separately (less than $300) through our recommended provider Value Hosting Australia).
Likewise, he was provided with an Allan Briggs Communications Advertiser Profile Page on the Newcomers Network website and in its first two weeks of publication it received over 120 page views. For the keywords 'Crisis Communication Melbourne,' his Advertiser Profile Page appears number one on page one of Google. For his own name 'Allan Briggs,' his Advertiser Profile Page appears at number five on page one and his new website (not even one month old), appears at number eight on page one of Google Search Results. This is for the world, not just websites from Australia.
Summary
In short, we recommend that Advertisers consider not only the banner advertising component of search engine marketing (paid advertising) that they can purchase through our website or through Google, Yahoo, other publishers etc. - you also need to see how you can have your content appearing on page one of Organic Google Search Results on a consistent basis.
We have found that this qualifies visitors to your website so that when they arrive, they know what to expect are are already 'warm' prospects.
There is no additional cost for click throughs or views regardless of how many you receive via Newcomers Network. We encourage you to advertise for a full financial year as most advertising works best if you constantly appear in the same place and people see you again and again in the right context.
We are quality website with genuine content and have been online since 2001. We are committed to ensuring that your Advertiser Profile Page performs well for selected keywords in your current website text. You can also update/change your text during the financial year for no extra cost.
